Lib Dems find it's grim up north

Graham Smith | 12:59 UK time, Friday, 4 March 2011

My thanks to the blog for reminding me that Liberal Democrats used to really like by-elections. As my colleague Brian Wheeler reports, maybe UKIP are becoming the new Lib Dems.

What does it mean in Cornwall? At the moment, absolutely nothing. The next round of Cornwall Council elections are not until 2013. The Liberal Democrats still have a large (but shrinking) political machine capable of getting voters to polling stations.

As Lib Dem councillor has blogged, it's too early for his Cornwall team to panic. But his Lib Dem colleagues in Scotland and Wales, and anywhere else where there are elections in May, must already be contemplating what to do with all the spare time they are about enjoy.

Time now for Labour to regroup and take their rightful place, standing for the working class people throughout this country.

Funny isn't it that the Lib Dems are the saviours of Cornish nationalism as in Andrew George and Dan Rogerson, who are both proud Cornish nationalists, who want a Cornish assembly, and devolution, and past members of MK etc etc.

Are these the same Lib Dems who are not to be trusted as they gave Cornwall the despised unitary authority, ruined Cornwall's economy, and are in bed with the Tories, the ones that Cornish nationalists are determined never to vote for again?

I think we should be told.

    :-)
