PMS enters the P&J debate
On today's Sunday Sequence, the Presbyterian Moderator, Dr Stafford Carson, said that a government-backed resolution to the Presbyterian Mutual Society crisis would be a confidence-building measure for the Protestant community. I asked him directly if he was saying that the PMS issue, which has no direct relation to the devolution of policing and justice, could be seen as a "community confidence" issue in respect of policing and justice, and he said it could certainly be seen that way.
Our discussion on today's programme included John McFall MP, chair of the Treasury Select committee, Sir George Quigley, who is advising the Presbyterian Church, and the Rev Dr Stafford Carson.

I hope PCI have learnt thier lesson & that they will refrain from offering financial advce in the future, especially "give your money to us and we'll look after it and put it to use for the good of the church" type of advice.

The issue of the Government guarantee is a red herring which PCI has been hiding behind for months. PCI needs to accept the responsibility that is theirs and act immediately to sort this out & stop blaming others for their own mess.
