You surely aren't saying that the Blog is pointless, are you? Shirley?

Which reminds me, I found out last night that Roy "Warwick Woy" Jenkins, he formerly of Chancellor of the Exchequer fame, used to be a code breaker at Bletchley Park. I was surprised, but I have no idea why.

And it seemed pointless enough to mention it here, just in case.

And the winner is Mr C. Green who says her interests include public speaking and reading a lot.

I'll send you a card from Austria when I get there next week (actually I'll be in Switzerland, but one mountain looks like another.. nobody will know)

Greetings from a rainy Norfolk.. any body got any suntan lotion.

What was that about sex lies and videotape?
I understand the lies and videotape bits but what about the sex?

I can't help thinking a competition on PM would be a great idea, and hey you could make it 25p a call, and go out for 'a pig out' on the proceeds.

Don't get too bogged down with all this honesty lark. There are crooks in every walk of life. Whta was it Lord Reith said 'The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú should inform, educate, entertain and cheat doing it'.

What a wise man he was.

I think there should be a public enquiry, especially as I now find out that the voices of the animals on Animal Magic were actually done by Johnny Morris. That's just ruined my entire childhood. Thank you Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú!! I want compensation.

Great idea, can I be the first winner??

But if we're going away, presumably in the future, why send in pix from brochures. or some such?

Oh! I seem to have inadvertently put my pedant hat on. It's rather fetching, straw with a trim of fruit and flowers.

But I'd be better off with a rainhood and brolly, so scratch that idea.

Now if only this thread hadn't been put up whilst I wasn't here, I would have sent a card from where I was. But when I was, I didn't have the address.

    *sigh*

Eddie, you will just have to consider yourself as having been sent an invisible greeting from somewhere I can neither spell nor pronounce, ok? It's in Finland. Take the ferry to Helsinki and head north and a little east. Eventually there is a small gap in the conifers and you have got there.

For goodness sake, I go away for a day & find everyone is exhuming the pointless postcards in their stationery cupboards. Now that's annoying, because I went to London, & I could have sent you a postcard from there yesterday, which would have been completely pointless, yes? What a missed opportunity. I had a lovely time playing at the Proms (sorry, had to throw that in - honestly it's only because someone went sick & absolutely every other harpist in the whole world was working, but what the heck. I'm not fussy.) I kept my eyes open for any Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú scandals I could identify, but to no avail. Though someone in the orch felt she'd been ripped off by the poor quality fruit salad at the RAH - somewhat less than 1/2 an apple & a bit of orange for £4 , but I suspect that's just London for you. At least it was in a posh glass.
Off to scintillate at someone's wedding now after getting up at 5 am. Will try to look keen.

Oh, Annasee (13) What a glamorous life you lead! Is there an HEI at which one can learn to Scintillate? I'd like to take that class. Perhaps there's a PostGrad qualification in Tantalising too? Or perhaps it's just innate? *sigh*

Aperitif @ 12, yes indeed! I did post to the old Beach last night when I got back to a computer.

The most important words I learnt in Finnish are 'auto rikki'. (orto ricky)

They are most usefully addressed to a mechanic, and they mean 'the car broke/is broken'. Then one points to the bit that is going 'cloinga cloinka boing boing whurp CLONG' and hopes for the best. :-)

Some time later one says 'kiitos' (key-toss) over and over, and gets out one's wallet.

    But it was fun.

(Hey, I just realised: if anyone knows the Finnish for 'frog', we could say it was rikki at intervals, like since about six this morning. Coo.)

Ap - I don't think you need to take a class!
