The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú SSO celebrated its 75th Birthday in style this week with a gala concert at City Halls and special broadcasts on TV, online and radio.

First up was a documentary on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two Scotland marking the 75th Anniversary of the orchestra, featuring exclusive archive footage and interviews with many musicians and conductors who have featured in the orchestra's past and present. The programme is available to view Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú iPlayer. The page includes an interview with former Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú SSO Associate Principal Conductor Martyn Brabbins on his memories conducting the orchestra.

For the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú SSO's Birthday on Thursday 3 December the orchestra performed a special concert at its home in City Halls featuring world famous Scottish violinist and conductor . In a first for the orchestra, the concert was broadcast live on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two Scotland, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 3 and online simultaneously.

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 3's Afternoon on Three programme dedicated a week of broadcasts to the orchestra in celebration of its 75 year. Wednesday's programme featured new Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú SSO Associate Guest Conductor Andrew Manze's debut with the orchestra with Brahms' Fourth Symphony. The page includes an interview with Andrew Maze and a clip of the performance.

It was a hectic but rewarding week for the orchestra and they are ready go again next week with the return of conductor for the last concert of the Sceptred Isle series. Here's to another 75 years!
