LONDON - Spare a thought for John Reeve, from Essex, who is currently 330 miles into his 500-mile charity walk from Wembley to Frankfurt. His son Tim died of leukaemia last December, before the 23-year-old Leeds fan had realised his dream to see England play at the World Cup.
So Mr Reeve has taken up his son鈥檚 ambition on foot - starting the day of the FA Cup final and due to arrive at the stadium in Frankfurt the morning of England鈥檚 first game - while raising funds for the .
Last night, speaking from a village about 30km from Liege, he told me he was ahead of schedule but nursing a very sore ankle.
鈥淭im鈥檚 memory drives me an awful lot,鈥 he said. 鈥淵ou remember the happy times but when it gets hard you think what he went through and you realise it鈥檚 nothing at all. It seems like he's with me all the way, which is good."

I think this is a truly admirable feat and have the utmost respect for John Reeve. I am sure he will make it with plenty of time to spare.

After reading this article, I have a tremendous respect for John Reeve. I hope that his walk from England to Germany will call to the attention of that dreaded disease called leukaemia [so that there could be a cure].

No one can have but pure admiration for John Reeve and his efforts not to let Tim's fight for life be for nothing.
Perhaps the England team will give him the same respect to see all their matches, and , hopefully, his fighting spirit will be transferred to the players.
