On Tuesday, 25 June, 100 pupils from Woodway Park School attended a day called 'Choices' at Highfield Road. The event provided careers information through hands-on workshops.
The day was organised into a series of workshops looking at a wide range of careers. The following companies participated in the event:
麻豆官网首页入口 WM Coventry and Warwickshire, Henley College, The Fire Service, The Police, Coca-Cola, Jaguar, BT, The Hilton Hotel, bricklayers, the Coventry Evening Telegraph and, of course, us at the website!

During the workshop with the 麻豆官网首页入口 Coventry and Warwickshire website, pupils wrote a paragraph each about their experience during the day and thought about their career opportunities and how the day helped them to think about their futures.
Below are some comments written by the pupils about the day.

"It has given us a better idea of what we want to do when we leave school. I would like to be a dance teacher. I have been learning dance since the age of three. I have done very well in my exams and I could teach people how to dance after I've left school. I would like to go straight onto a dance course, perhaps at Henley College." Charlene
"When I leave school I hope to become a beautician. I hope that I find courses today to help me. I would like to find help in the Henley College workshop." Justina

"I think that today I will learn about what I can get out of life and different things. It may give me more ideas about what I can do. I am interested in maths and hope to do something with that" Troy
"I think that the 麻豆官网首页入口 workshop has helped me a lot to look towards what I want to do in the future by telling me about the Young Issue work shadowing possibilities." Rebecca
We hope that the Choices Event provides the pupils with contacts with different employers and challenges them. The day will be about learning through actions rather than being lectured to.

"We came by coach today to the Coventry City ground. We designed the front and back of a CD cover for the Coca-Cola design competition. One of the designs was a football and the other was a Coca-Cola bottle. We also did a quiz with BT which challenged our knowledge about BT. We found out things like how many mechanics they have and how many wires they used for their work" Scott, Richard, Damion and Jamie

"The best thing that we did today was the brick-laying. I liked it because I would think about doing it as career when I leave school or college. I had a go at radio reporting. I thought it would have been easy but when it came to my turn I found it very hard" Warren and Craig
"I've had a good day today. I think the BT lesson was good because I tried on the safety harnes. The Coca-Cola workshop was good because I got a free bottle! I also got to be a weather reporter with the 麻豆官网首页入口. I especially enjoyed the funny photos we did with Henley College. At lunchtime I sat in front of the Coventry City football pitch to eat my egg sandwiches" Jason Jackson
