I would think that the centre of a country is measured from the furthest point from the edges.

Taking into account small Islands doesnt seem to make sense - if you want to know the point that is furthest from the sea.

Follow the link on the left to see a new 麻豆官网首页入口 report that says Meriden may not be in the centre of England, despite its claims.

Do you have a view on whether it matters if Meriden is not the centre?

Do you believe the 麻豆官网首页入口's new claims?

Should the monument in Meriden be removed?

Does Meriden's central status attract visitors that wouldn't otherwise travel to Meriden?

Let us know what you think.

Can anyone tell me if the round cafe in Coventry (old Wimpy) ever rotated and if so how may times a day ?

If Birmingham wants to do anything we should try to do something that isn't a copy of London. Just because it has been a success in London it doesn't mean it will work here.

Also if the council go ahead it should not be payed for by the tax payers unless they all agree and 53% doesn't hold it with me.

I am a resident of Coventry that I think is a 2nd rate uncultural city, without a proper 2000 seater theatre.

Chris Beck, Director of the Phoenix Initiative should take up the same challenge as Paul Haynes , centre manager of West Orchard Shopping Centre did by moving his desk on to the main concourse for a week of consumer consultation.

Mr Beck should move is desk to the bottom of the steps which meet Trinity Street and spend a week there where he would be bombarded by irate people who are disgusted with his god like attitude to just what the Phoenix Iniative is causing to the people and traders in this city.

The nightclub "Sugar" in leamington spa is a horrible place. Although it admitedly is probably the most upmarket place in Leamington, that doesn't say much.

The bouncers feel it necessary to stop anyone who is having "too much fun", and act ridiculously macho when seperating two
friends who are play-fighting.

I am not alone in my resent for the people
who run sugar and their utter incompetence.

I want to make people aware of the monkeys in charge of this "respected" nightclub.

Five of us were awake (playing computer games) and not too quiet. When these strangly rythmic tremours hit. It was like being on top of a massive washing machine. Loud and thumping with enough force to displace objects from shelves it seemed like a gas explosin nearby. Obviously not when listening to your programme. Scary. The tremours lasted around 30 seconds

I can say there have been at least 2 in the last couple of years in the Redditch area, one about 4 years ago in wales and one a few years earlier than this in Redditch again.

All previous tremours were distinctly different, rattling and varied in tempo. This was more thumping as the building was repeatedly lifted in a strangely rythmic tempo as if a massive ball was being repeatedly kicked against the south wall.

At first, feeling the force revebrating in the room (and through us, like a very loud speaker) it reminded me of an explosion wave (having felt a couple during the 90's in London), my friend thought a large gas explosion nearby. Not like the tremours I have felt before.

Hello,

I live in Nuneaton, and was working on my computer at home, when at about 12:50 am today, I heard a loud rumbling for about 10-15 seconds, then a bang, at which time, the house shook.

I at first thought a lorry had hit the house, it was that loud! Neighbours were all up, and wondering what had happened.

Hi

Between 00.55 - 00.10, I was watching TV when I felt the earth tremor. At the time I didn't know that, only when I heard it on 麻豆官网首页入口 News 24.

I live in Keresley Village, Coventry.

Hi

It is 1.15 am in the morning on Monday September 23rd and I have just experienced an earthquake!

I live in Brinklow, near Rugby, and I was working on my computer when it began as a kind of vibration, as if a big vehicle was passing, then increased in intensity until I could feel the floor rippling - the dogs who were asleep both sat up in concern.

Then there was a loud crack and I actually saw the wall moving - enough to wake my husband up. The whole house was shaking - an unmistakeable feeling - and lasted I would say at least 30 seconds -possibly more but difficult to estimate. It then tailed off and there were two or three last shudders until it stopped.

I can't hear a sound outside now so perhaps few people were awake to experience it - oddly enough my son lives in Sillicon Valley on top of the San Andreas fault and I have never experienced an earthquake there!

The whole street in south leamington just got shaken awake.

Was it an earthquake or has there been a plane crash or a bomb somewhere a
few miles away?

I wonder if anyone can help me?!

A friend of mine is getting married next year
and is looking for a band to play at her wedding.

She has heard of a local band called 'Switch' and is interested in getting them to play,
unfortunately we have no details about them and can't find them anywhere. We'd also like to track down a band called the Swains.

Can anyone help?

I was born in Coventry but lived in Rugby where I went to school. After finishing school I moved to Cyprus where I got married. My parents are from Cyprus but they still live in Rugby. They have a fish shop in Coventry at Aldermans Green.

I came to Coventry after 13 years. It was great to see everything again, much has changed for the better. But I was disappointed in seeing the park behind Aldermans Green that has been abandoned. When I was little there used to be boats and ducks, it was great. Now it's just dead. Can something be done about this?

The Hippodrome theatre holds a lot of dear memories for me, but I suppose we have to move forward.

My real concern now is what the council intend to do with the hippodrome site, I am not over impressed with the silly clock that tells the world time.

After all, how many people in Coventry care what time it is elsewhere in the world.

If anyone can give me a good reason for knowing world time, perhaps they could post it here.

I am working on my Geography GCSE course work and i have to produce a report on the War Memorial Park in Coventry. Could you please send me any information about the park both past and present.
Thank you

I'm afraid our only involvement with the park is on current events. We have features on the Youth Festival, the Vaisakhi celebrations and the Godiva Festival that took place there.

See them in the features and music sections of the site.

For more information on the park itself, I suggest you contact the city council and the local studies library. The Coventry city archives number is 024 7683 2418 and the council number is 024 7683 3333.

Maybe other website readers will be able to help by emailing us too.

Could someone please tell me WHY my local council seem to spend endless amounts of money and time on pointless road corner cutting and stupid speed bumps? On Albion street in Kenilworth does it hold the world record for "the worlds biggest speed bump"?

Is it in the blood of Warwickshire council or is there "vaild" reason, because traffic calming don't fit with me. If anything it's making traffic WORSE?

I use a wheelchair and find it useful to have access details for venues - particularly from people who have actually beeen there in a chair! I am very happy to supply my own comments.

For example, the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford get four stars from me for accessibility and help.

The only reason they dont get five is because you need a radar key for the toilet and its not the kind of thing you take to the theatre.
Do you think this would be a useful information source?

I have just read the review of the Colly on your site and would like to say that I disagree with 2 things.

Firstly the review says 'bouncers think we're townies and therefore, have plenty of other places to go and so don't let us in'. I would like to say that on the many occasions that I have gone to the Colly there has always been a great diversity of people in there.

Secondly, there is a statement 'if you're a regular at Diva on a Saturday night then you'll hate it'. I have to disagree as the Colly puts on a variety of nights suited to all tastes, such as the St. Trinian's night and Cheesy Pop Night's pulling people from different music tastes and clubs such as Diva.

Apart from that I would say that the review is correct and the Colly is the BEST and CHEAPEST place in Coventry to party.

I remember the old wishing well in the town, it was right next to the 21 bus stop. Lady Godiva's there now. People forever have been meeting at Owens&Owens.

Owens had the first escalator in Coventry I read somewhere. I'm 29, and now live up north. I get home sick, but sick for the old coventry. I'm always searching for pictures of my childhood on the net, please someone open a web....

As an ex lass of Cov, i can say that the males anywhere else dont quite match up. I get home sick loads. I love all the old Coventry buildings, COVENTRY ROCKS x

Is Coventry City Centre still a haven for bums, beggars, muggers and collections of threatening young men making it impossible to feel comfortable when you go shopping?

Ed Doolan
麻豆官网首页入口 WM presenter

I had a lovely time in the city centre on Saturday. The only bums, as you call them, were the Big Issue vendors. Surely you don't begrudge them trying to turn their lives around with the magazine? I think you need to be tolerant and need to open you eyes to the good things in Coventry.
Lily Sandor
Foleshill

There may well be the odd few undesirables in the city centre - but it's nowhere near what it was like years ago. And anyway, nowhere could be worse for beggars and bums than Birmingham - you can't walk 20 yards without being harrassed, day or night.
Lizzy
Earlsdon

Got to say, there are some real scumbags lurking in dark corners in the city, but it seems to be worse during the day than the evening. Cathedral Lanes on a Saturday afternoon is a nightmare!
Sparky
Kenilworth

Coventry gets bad press - you should try walking anywhere in London at night.

I came back partly because at least here its relatively safe and clean.

Every town centre gets rough at night - the smaller the town the worse it is.

Villages are renowned for being full of nutters (i.e. 'Whalley benchboys' - thanks Richard).

Stop giving Cov such a hard time -if you hate it so much why are you still here?
Natasha
Earlsdon

Coventry has changed a lot since I left in 1995, and all for the better, so stop moaning and appreciate the fact that your city is in the process of being improved.
Lucy Shipton
A Cov kid now living in Sheffield!

In defence of Ed Doolan, I don't think he'd say Big Issue sellers are "bums" - they're trying to do something for themselves, and that's to be supported.
I don't think Cov in the daylight is that scary, but the underpasses are to be avoided once darkness falls! Mind you, it's the same anywhere these days isn't it?
