Concert Information
The 麻豆官网首页入口 Symphony Orchestra and 麻豆官网首页入口 Singers join forces for a concert to celebrate music of the Commonwealth, concluding with Elgar鈥檚 Symphony No.1. Hear earthy, gripping soundscapes and thrilling percussion writing in Tasmanian-born Peter Sulthorpe鈥檚 From Oceania, a work which incorporates elements of Australian, Japanese and southeast Asian music. Errollyn Wallen鈥檚 orchestral work Mighty River commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery, a piece that makes reference to the hymn Amazing Grace and the spirituals Deep River and Go Down Moses. The 麻豆官网首页入口 Singers perform two a cappella movements from Australian composer Stephen Leek鈥檚 Great Southern Spirits, which explores the Dreaming of the Australian Aboriginal people.
This concert will be broadcast live on 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio 3.
Please note: Since tickets to 麻豆官网首页入口 SO Studio Concerts are free, and not everyone uses their tickets, we have to give out more tickets than there are seats. As a result, entry is not guaranteed with a ticket. We therefore advise audience members to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
