About this event

Contrasting French favourites herald the season's second UK premiere of a recent work by Pascal Dusapin, this one owing its existence to the persistence of tonight's soloists.

According to the composer, 'Irvine Arditti asked me for many years to compose a quartet with orchestra. I refused as politely as possible 鈥� Irvine went on trying, again and again.'

The result is a discourse in which, he says, 'each party sets the other one into motion, as if one were the dream of the other'. Acclaimed for their recent live and recorded Stravinsky, Thierry Fischer and the 麻豆官网首页入口 NOW revisit The Firebird, the iridescent ballet that effectively launched the composer's international career and remains among his best-loved scores.
