About This Event
The British brass band tradition is one of the marvels of the musical world. With an unbroken history stretching back nearly 150 years, the Tredegar Band is a true virtuoso ensemble, and from its base in Blaenau Gwent it found a worldwide audience in 2014 when it appeared in the BAFTA-winning movie Pride. The band’s second Prom this season celebrates the sheer breadth (and brilliance) of their artistry. ‘We’re aiming to cover the history of brass band music in about an hour!’ says Music Director Ian Porthouse, and this late-night showcase includes brass classics from Richard Strauss to Phillip Wilby as well as tributes – in their anniversary years – to Vaughan Williams, Elmer Bernstein and Judy Garland.
There will be no interval
