Anna Clyne/Mozart/Mahler

The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester
Ben Gernon鈥檚 first Bridgewater Hall concert as the orchestra鈥檚 Principal Guest Conductor is marked by a pair of firsts 鈥 the UK premiere of Anna Clyne鈥檚 intensely atmospheric nocturnal miniature, and Mahler鈥檚 debut symphony, completed when the composer was 27 and utterly alive with the possibilities of youth. The first performance of Mozart鈥檚 impassioned D minor Piano Concerto was given by the composer himself 鈥 but, in his absence, American Mozart specialist Richard Goode is the next best thing.
