Mark Simpson performs the Clarinet Concerto by Carl Nielsen, whose 150th anniversary falls this year, in a programme which also includes an alluring suite from Ravel鈥檚 'Daphnis and Chloe'. Selected pieces will be broadcast on 麻豆官网首页入口 Four on Thursday 30 July.

Afternoon heat breeds musical languor in a Prom that drifts from Delius鈥檚 summer garden to the classical landscapes of Ravel鈥檚 lovers Daphnis and Chloe. Former 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio 3 New Generation Artist Mark Simpson is the soloist in anniversary composer Nielsen鈥檚 intimate, playful Clarinet Concerto. Hugh Wood鈥檚 Epithalamion is a new cantata that delights in John Donne鈥檚 sensuous and jubilant verse.
