Lorin Maazel conducts the Vienna Philharmonic in Bruckner鈥檚 monumental Eighth Symphony. Klaus Sonnleitner 鈥� the present-day successor to Bruckner as organist at St Florian鈥檚 Abbey in Linz 鈥� sets the scene with a sequence of works by Bach, one of Bruckner鈥檚 idols.

Who better to open tonight鈥檚 Prom than Klaus Sonnleitner, present-day organist at St Florian鈥檚 Abbey, Linz, where Bruckner himself became organist almost 160 years ago.

Lorin Maazel conducts the Vienna Philharmonic in Bruckner鈥檚 Eighth Symphony, a vivid realisation of the self-doubting composer鈥檚 lifelong ambition to build upon the legacies of Beethoven, Schubert and Wagner.
