Please note that this Plus Family event will be taking place in the Barbican Stalls Lounge, not the Barbican Fountain Room. The Stalls Lounge is located down the steps from the Fountain Room.
Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú SO PLUS FAMILY is a series of free interactive, family-friendly workshops which introduce the music of the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú SO concerts at the Barbican, including a £5 ticket offer (plus booking fee*) for the evening concert. This workshop will take place 6.00pm-7.00pm in the Stalls Lounge, before the main evening concert at 7.30pm.
When Sibelius wrote Tapiola he was inspired by Finnish tales of the forest spirit, Tapio. Sibelius wrote that Tapiola is about ‘dusky forests’ and ‘ancient, mysterious, brooding savage dreams’ where ‘wood-sprites in the gloom weave magic secrets.’ John Foulds takes us closer to home with a picture of England in April, and there’s Russian passion in Rachmaninov’s beautiful Piano Concerto No. 4.
