Sir Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra of the Academy of Santa Cecilia, Rome, take a musical journey that begins with the ceremonial fizz and pomp of Mozart鈥檚鈥楬affner鈥� Symphony and ends in the burnished melancholy and high drama of Rachmaninov鈥檚 Symphony No 2.

Jan Lisiecki makes his Proms debut in Schumann鈥檚 Piano Concerto, a work that eschews empty technical display and calls instead for a detailed and intimate dialogue between pianist and orchestra: chamber music on a grand scale.
