Programme

Concert information

Following the overture to the first important German Romantic opera, Der Freischütz, Christoph König conducts a performance of one of Hindemith’s best-known scores, a set of ebullient variations on pieces composed by Weber. Written six years before Schubert’s death, the Eighth Symphony remains one of music’s great unfinished works, with just two movements completed. An orchestration of Liszt’s Second Hungarian Rhapsody brings the programme to a rousing finale.

To be recorded for future broadcast on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 3.
