Andris Nelsons conducts the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and soprano Kristine Opolais in Desdemona鈥檚 poignant Willow Song and Ave Maria from Act 3 of Verdi鈥檚 1887 opera Otello and Tatyana鈥檚 touching Letter Scene from Tchaikovsky鈥檚 1879 opera Eugene Onegin.

Shot through with birdsong and Bohemian dance rhythms, Dvo艡谩k鈥檚 Eighth Symphony was the last to be completed in the Old World before he left for New York in 1892. A pair of popular Johann Strauss favourites concludes this matinee Prom with Viennese sparkle.
