One of Scotland鈥檚 most loved musical events - 麻豆官网首页入口 Scotland鈥檚 Proms in the Park returns to Glasgow Green on Saturday 8 September.
The world class 麻豆官网首页入口 Scottish Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Stephen Bell, takes centre stage performing classical pieces, traditional Scottish reels, as well as some well-known favourites. On the night the 麻豆官网首页入口 SSO will also be joined by a number of special guests, including Sophie Ellis-Bextor: who shot to fame as a vocalist on Spiller鈥檚 huge number one single Groovejet and then followed it up with Take Me Home and her worldwide smash hit, Murder on the Dancefloor.
Her solo debut album, Read My Lips was released in 2001 and reached number two in the UK Albums Chart and certified double platinum by the BPI. The album sold more than 2 million copies worldwide.
In 2014, in a departure from her previous dance pop albums, Sophie embarked on her debut singer/songwriter album 鈥淲anderlust鈥 It proved to be a critical and commercial success : certified Gold in the UK and spending 3 weeks in the UK top 10 album chart and spawning the hit single 鈥 Young Blood 鈥
Also now joining the line up are the acclaimed Ayoub Sisters. The Scottish Egyptian pair have enthralled audiences around the world with their fantastic musicianship and unique interpretations, their performance on Glasgow Green is sure to be one of the night鈥檚 highlights.
The Glasgow event, a highlight of the city's cultural calendar, will be live on both TV and radio. It will be presented by tenor and 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Scotland presenter Jamie MacDougall.
Proms in the Park is part of the annual spectacular culmination of two months of music-making at the 麻豆官网首页入口 Proms, as the world-famous Last Night celebrations spill out from London's Royal Albert Hall and thousands of people come together at venues across the UK to be part of the magic of the Last Night.
