His native Hungary is the first destination with Bart贸k鈥檚 Hungarian Peasant Songs 鈥 before we journey onward with his Romanian Folk Dances, based on seven miniatures from Transylvania.
A world premiere next from Camden Reeves, Professor of Music at The University of Manchester, with Light Speed with Time Canons, composed in celebration of the centenary of the experimental proof of Albert Einstein鈥檚 General Theory of Relativity.
Closing this afternoon we hear Prokofiev鈥檚 Four Portraits and Denouement from 鈥楾he Gambler鈥, an orchestral suite taken from his action-packed opera based on a novel by Dostoevsky, who understood the lure of the gaming tables only too well, being a gambling addict himself!
