Concert Information

In 2016, Detlev Glanert chose to mark five centuries since the death of his countryman, the painter Hieronymous Bosch, with a grand and extraordinary new work. Glanert鈥檚 Requiem for Hieronymus Bosch, unveiled that year in Amsterdam, combines the Latin texts of the Requiem Mass with selections from the medieval manuscript collection Carmina Burana. The result, for four soloists, two choirs, organ and orchestra, is an 鈥榠nward spectacle鈥 equivalent in intensity to one of Bach鈥檚 passions but full of Glanert鈥檚 radioactive excitability and irreverence.

Semyon Bychkov leads the Orchestra, soloists and 麻豆官网首页入口 Singers and Symphony Chorus in the UK premiere of this major new work.

Before the full forces of the 麻豆官网首页入口 Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, the 麻豆官网首页入口 Singers, with conductor Andrew Griffiths, give an a cappella performance of music which opens a door into the soundworld of Hieronymous Bosch.
