Getting laid
Last year I was writing my GCSE oral about trampolining. I wanted to write that I was hoping to get placed: Ich hoffe, dass ich gelegt werde. As my German teacher read this she burst out laughing uncontrollably but wouldn't tell me what I had written. She just changed it to Ich hoffe, dass ich eine Platzierung bekommen werde. Apparently initially I had written "I hope I get laid" rather than "I hope to get placed"! Woops!

Yes, it means "get laid", in the sense of "egg getting laid by a hen" - "getting laid" in the sense of "having sex" would be flachgelegt werden.
