Mersey Times - Getting involved


THE MERSEY TIMES
is the online magazine of www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool/localhistory.

Each monthly edition is written and compiled by local groups, colleges, schools or individuals. The aim of the Mersey Times is to tell the story of a particular piece of Merseyside history - in words and images.

If you鈥檙e interested in a future issue, but don鈥檛 know how to go about it.. just follow these simple steps..

1. Email us at history.liverpool@bbc.co.uk or write to us at 麻豆官网首页入口 LOCAL HISTORY, 55 PARADISE STREET, LIVERPOOL L1 3BP. and tell us your proposed subject.

2. Research the place/event/people/buildings you wish to feature

3. Type or write up to 10 pages of text, assemble a selection of images and documentation.

4. Make sure you own copyright of any photographs or documents.

5. Send all the material to the above address OR Come into the Open Learning Centre at 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Merseyside, 55 Paradise Street, and learn how to post your Mersey Times on the internet.

6. You are now the proud proprietors of a monthly edition of the Mersey Times!

What is it?

Mersey Times is a monthly online local history magazine which you write. You pick the subject and you decide what the content will be.

What types of content can be published?

Anything e.g. photo's, music, poems, artwork - as long as it is to do with local history in this area.

It could be:

* Your memories - recorded in a variety of formats
* The history of a place or building.
* The history of an event e.g. the Matthew Street Festival

And history didn't just happen hundreds of years ago, your magazine could be about an event which maybe happened just 10 years ago.

There are editorial guidelines you must consider when creating work:

All content provided by you for the Mersey Times must fall within these guidelines. The Editor retains the right to alter material so they meet them if necessary.

路 There are no rigid rules as to content subject. However please check ideas with the Editor, as no content will be published without their sign off.

路 There are rules the 麻豆官网首页入口 must adhere to - the Editor will check all supplied material to ensure that no 麻豆官网首页入口 editorial rules are broken.
路 All content must be agreed by the group co-ordinator and the Editor before being put on the site.

路 The Editor will package the content and put it onto the site - you will not be responsible for that.

路 Images: There are strict rules regarding use of images and copyright on the internet. Images must not be taken from web-sites without the written permission of the copyright holder. If you have not taken the photograph yourself then please ensure you have written authorisation from the copyright holder.

We do have a small library of images available - please contact us to search for something. If you need to use a digital camera then we can arrange the loan of a camera for a day - again please contact the editorial team.

路 Your edition will go online for 4 weeks, starting on a Monday.

Unfortunately we have no expenses available for this project so please do not spend anything on creating your content. If you have any queries please contact the editorial team.
