Winner Sitcom Writer Award 2004

Robin Taylor

Robin Taylor

Robin's sitcom script for 'Marigold' impressed the judges in 2004 enough for him to win the Sitcom Writer Award.

Ìý

The sitcom, filmed as a pilot and broadcast on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three, is a hybrid of British domestic sitcoms in which a dysfunctional family continually attempts to show the world they are normal, when clearly they are not.

Ìý

What I like about Marigold is its quirkiness. What starts out as looking like a standard sitcom suddenly shoots left field.
Angus Deayton

Ìý

Selina Griffiths ('The Smoking Room') and Angus Deayton ('Nighty Night') play Marigold and Kenneth Moore, a married couple who try to fulfil their traditional roles as parents and spouses, but only end up confusing their teenage son Jack.

Ìý

Winning this scheme has been amazing, as it's the first official recognition that I have potential as a writer. It's also fascinating to get more insight into how writing and production of television programmes work. I'm stupidly excited about my script being broadcast. I would definitely recommend that people try out for these things – you never know what may happen.
