The Haircut by Holly Kilminster

I’m going to have my hair cut, a trim is over-due,
The split ends are multiplying, I’ve developed quite a few,
If it grows any longer, Rapunzel I’ll resemble,
I make my way to that dreaded seat, holding back a tremble,
The hairdresser asks me what I want, I answer ‘just a trim’,
She shakes her head laughing and asks where to begin,
Maybe I’ll have a bob or even try a perm,
With added curls and bounce and hairspray to hold it firm,
Maybe I’ll change the colour, go for blonde or brunette,
Or I could still chicken out and just shampoo and set,
There’s no going back now, the scissors start to snip,
I close my eyes tightly and bite my bottom lip,
But when I look, I get a huge surprise,
My hair looks beautiful, I can’t believe my eyes,
My hair is looking gorgeous, compliments - I’ve had plenty,
But I won’t be going again until 2020!
