Jihane M. Rodriguez
Born in 1982, to South American parents, left England at the age of 1 and settled in Venezuela; started writing poetry at the age of 14 and since then fell in love with literature. I have writen a number of poems in Spanish to many competitions, being the most notorious ones to the Centro Poetico de Espana, Madrid. Many poems published by them in different publications. Came back to England at the age of 21 and attented to Newcastle University, obtained a Degree Ba Combined Studies, and started writing in English in 2005 after marrying an English man.

I abscond, silently like a dark shadow
as I move through the ambiguous labyrinth of your mind.
You can smell me, yet you can't see me,
even when I am just behind.
I appear in anachronistic phrases
as a ghost that can leave your side.
we amalgamate; we mix; we merge.
and then is you who can't leave my side.
I kiss and seal in a tacit agreement
the edges of your confinement
- as you are only as free as you want to be -
in the taciturn alignment of your mind.
Yet your pristine soul screams back at me.
Attracted. Trap. Driven.
wanting to be free.
Run, fly, swim in my melancholic dream.
Stay, bite, touch; let yourself go with the stream.
Listen. Taste... lick the spring rain off my face.
Look. Feel... can you handle my fervid dream?
