17th October 2001
25 years of keeping it real
Notts beer fest 2000

The start of last year.

The local branch of the Campaign for Real Ale are putting some finishing touches to the Jubilee 2001 Nottingham Beer Festival being held at the Victoria Leisure Centre, Snienton.

It is running from Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st of October.

It is offering such delights as new breweries from Nottinghamshire, an historic pea soup beer and the launch of the 2002 Good Beer Guide.

There are going to be two new Nottinghamshire breweries showing their wares at a beer festival for the first time.

Full pint promise
The glass with the line

These are just two of over 130 breweries coming from all over the country. They will be bringing at least 300 brews to the festival.

Around 160 volunteers will work in the two halls capable of holding more than 1400 people.

There will be ciders and perries available, along with bitters, milds, stouts, porters, lagers and wheat beers, to tempt the drinker. If their attention can be dragged away there are a limited number of invited stalls to gaze at.

During the evening sessions the two bar arrangement will come into It's own.

Whilst the back bar will continue to enjoy peaceful contemplation the front will be treated to music.

The Stomp Brothers blues and roots music take stage on Friday and Tony Crosby and his Stranger Blues hold sway on Saturday.

The opening times are as follows.

Thursday to Saturday 11:00 -23:00. Sunday 12:00 15:00.

Daytime: 50p. Thursday and Friday nights £3. Saturday night £1. Entry is free at all times for Campaign for Real Ale members.
