Character CVs and
cast list
Michael Phillips, Prime Minister (Robert
Bathurst)
Career: Politician.
Michael Phillips rose to power through the infamous Night of the Grey
Socks which led to the resignation of the previous Prime Minister.
The resulting fallout left Phillips, then the Minister for Government
Ministries, as the compromise candidate - inoffensive to the electorate
but with the added bonus of a young family to appeal to VW Man.
Achievements since becoming PM: the first PM to wear jeans
in a cabinet meeting. The first PM to wear trainers to Buckingham Palace.
The first PM to apologise publicly for the behaviour of his children
at the State Opening of Parliament.
Clare Phillips, PM's wife (Carla
Mendonca)
Career: Banker.
Clare earns much more than her husband and, given the chance, would
probably be a much more able Prime Minister.
Began at Sackvilles, moved on to Granton Naylor before being head-hunted
by Sackvilles, where she worked until it was taken over by Granton Naylor.
Now heads the new business investment team at Granton Sackville Naylors.
Interests: interest rates.
Dislikes: teenage girls who refuse to go to bed, boys who
don't know the location of the TV off-switch and Prime Ministers who
don't know where the dishwasher is.
Dillon Phillips, PM's son (Joe
Prospero)
Career: Schoolboy.
Following infancy, he progressed to being small boy and has now settled
into the key role of Third Most Influential Person in the Country (after
the PM and John Humphrys).
Interests: staring into space, slobbing out.
Favourite TV show: anything.
Sarah Phillips, PM's daughter (Emma
Sackville)
Career: Teenager.
Born. Grew up a bit before going to school and finding herself in the
seat of power.
Interests: getting own way, slamming doors, being stroppy.
Likes: Her boyfriend Lee, who's not a supermarket shelf-stacker
- he's a DJ waiting for a break, OK?
Dislikes: annoying parents, brothers, GCSEs - well the whole
world really (apart from Lee, though he's quite annoying too).
Duncan Packer, Communications Director
(Jasper Britton)
Career: Spin Doctor.
Began in management consultancy, but deemed too economical with the
truth for the world of disingenuous flim flammery.
Turned to the more promising world of politics, forging a pivotal role
in the rise of Michael Phillips, turning him from a man in a suit to
an electable man in a suit.
Ambition: to be Prime Minister, even if he isn't elected.
Favourite saying: No Comment.
Gary McRyan, bodyguard (Paterson
Joseph)
Career: Hero Ex SAS, where he took part in many operations that can't
be disclosed.
Now combines bodyguard duties with writing his blockbuster facu-thriller,
Bravo, Bravo, Bravo.
Fear: fear itself - and writer's block.
