Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú One broadcasts highlights from six concerts in a series of three special programmes and Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two brings viewers some of this season's highlights.

Ìý

A wide range of multimedia platforms bring the full range of programming, supported by news about the season, information about the music and artists and related broadcasts inviting audiences outside the Royal Albert Hall to join in and enjoy the complete Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Proms experience.

Ìý

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Proms are broadcast live on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 3. Listeners can hear repeat broadcasts of most concerts each weekday in Afternoon on 3 (2.00pm) at bbc.co.uk/radio3. Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Proms Chamber Music concerts are broadcast live from Cadogan Hall and repeated the following Saturday (2.00pm) and Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Proms Composer Portraits are broadcast on the day of recording, after the evening's Prom.

Ìý

Regular programmes across the station will also feature Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Proms-related content with detailed information about the wider musical and cultural context of the season's key events. This includes two special Sunday Features, which focus upon Sibelius (in the year of the 50th anniversary of his death) and Shakespeare, building upon the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Proms theme which celebrates repertoire inspired by his works.

Ìý

Artists and composers will join presenters to offer insights into the works being performed and their own unique interpretations. Listeners to Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 3 via DAB digital radio and Freeview will be able to view ‘now playing' details and programme notes.

Ìý

The season is also available to listeners throughout Europe, North America and across the world via the European Broadcasting Union, as well as online via the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Proms website. Selected concerts will again be broadcast on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 3 over the Christmas period.

Ìý

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Four offers viewers the chance to enjoy a raft of concerts broadcast live weekly throughout the season and Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two features some of this year's most eagerly awaited performances, including those directed by Sir Colin Davis, Michael Tilson Thomas and Bernard Haitink. Highlights from six Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Proms concerts are brought to Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú One viewers in a series of three themed programmes.

Ìý

The first of these reflects the 150th anniversary of Edward Elgar's birth, featuring the composer's Enigma Variations performed by Daniele Gatti and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra coupled with Paul Watkins performing the legendary Cello Concerto, recorded on the opening night of the season.

Ìý

Subsequent programmes celebrate young, international orchestral music-making with highlights from concerts by the National Youth Orchestras of both Venezuela and Great Britain and the European Union Youth Orchestra and a special broadcast showcasing Baroque favourites.

Ìý

For all televised Proms on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú One, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two and Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Fou, digital TV viewers (digital satellite, Freeview,Virgin TV and Sky viewers) can press the red button on their remote control to access programme notes tailored to each channel.

Ìý

These programme notes provide viewers with a guide to the music including biographical information about the composer, background information and contextual references about the work, deeper analytical details and a commentary about specific interesting features of the music. On the Last Night of the Proms, this will also include live coverage from Proms in the Park concerts around the UK.

Ìý

Every Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Prom can be heard live online and concerts are available for up to seven days after the original broadcast. Last year there was a 200 per cent increase in the numbers of people using the ‘Listen Again' service at bbc.co.uk/radio3 and more than a million requests by users were received throughout the season.

Ìý

The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Proms website continues to be the primary source for the most up-to-date information about the programme of concerts and events, artists and repertoire, also inviting audiences to participate in debate by submitting their own reviews and joining the lively discussions on the message board. Online users are offered a wealth of background material with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and a look at the more historical perspective, celebrating the rich and unique history of the world's greatest music festival.

Ìý

Listeners can access detailed notes about the music featured in each evening's concert, available one hour before each concert, complementing the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Proms broadcast experience. The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Proms will once again create a special WAP site for the season enabling users to access information via their mobile phones, including listings, updates, booking and broadcast information.
