Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Children In Need 2007
– do something different!

Introduction

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Children In Need returns on Friday 16 November at 7pm on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú One, with a rich offering of stellar entertainment acts all appearing to raise money for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Ìý

Sir Terry Wogan will host the 28th Appeal Night, live from London's Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Television Centre – which, over seven hours, will feature some of the UK's top TV, musical and theatrical personalities and acts.

Ìý

He will be joined by a series of guest presenters, including Fearne Cotton.

Ìý

On hosting the 2007 Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Children in Need Appeal Night, Terry says: "It is always a privilege and pleasure, the highest point of my year, to present Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Children In Need.

Ìý

"Last year was a record breaker, and this year we are hoping the great British public will give us even more. We've certainly got a fantastic show line-up this year. I know I say that every year but this year really is special."

Ìý

Fearne adds: "I'm really happy to be involved again with Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Children In Need. So many fantastic performers are taking part this year and the atmosphere at Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Television Centre will be electric.

Ìý

"The live show is sure to keep the nation entertained, whilst also raising lots of money for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK".

Ìý

Highlights on the night include:

Ìý

  • The Spice Girls, Kylie, John Barrowman and Annie Lennox.

Exclusive Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Children In Need-themed scenes from Doctor Who and Hotel Babylon, plus a musical extravaganza from Albert Square featuring the cast of EastEnders.

Junior Dragons' Den and a Never Mind The Buzzcocks special – as Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 1 take on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio 2.

Lee Mead with the cast of Joseph and a performance from the West End stars of Dirty Dancing.

    Sugababes, McFly, Westlife.

Appeal messages from a host of celebrities, including Take That.

  • And, of course, a very special live performance by the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú newsreaders.

Ìý

The programme will also feature broadcasts from around the UK, as Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú presenters join their local communities to catch up with some energetic and creative fundraising exploits.

Ìý

Quirky, regional fundraisers already planned include young fire fighters in Swansea climbing ladders, to the equivalent height of Mount Everest, and the staff of Alton Towers holding a sleepover in a haunted castle.

Ìý

This year, the fundraising theme is Do Something Different and all those who step up to the challenge, or pick up the phone to pledge money for the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Children In Need Appeal, will be part of a huge community of supporters that make a huge difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

Ìý

Last year's Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Children In Need television broadcast raised over £18million on the night and the 2006 total appeal eventually topped £33million.
