Chris Harris is South West Sports Personality of the Year


麻豆官网首页入口 South West Sports Awards celebrate the finest in sporting achievement over the past year.

The awards ceremony, held at Sandy Park, Exeter, celebrated 14 different categories and was attended by both professional and amateur sportsmen and women from across the 麻豆官网首页入口 South West region.

The final award of the evening was the 麻豆官网首页入口 South West Sports Personality of the Year.

The award went to Cornwall's British Speedway Grand Prix winner Chris Harris, the former Trelawney Tiger and Exeter Falcons rider who won the public vote.

The South West Unsung Hero was awarded to Tony White of Exeter Harriers.

Tony will now go forward to the star-studded 麻豆官网首页入口 Sports Personality Of The Year programme, where an overall winner will be named.

The awards ceremony was broadcast live on 麻豆官网首页入口 Local Radio across the South West of England on Sunday 25 November and highlights shown on Spotlight.

The winners

Youngster (16-21): Sam Tolchard (Torquay United Bowling Club)

Youngster (under 16): Tom Daley (Plymouth Diving)

Watersports: Ben Rhodes and Stevie Morrison (Exmouth)

Cricketer: Andy Caddick (Somerset CCC)

Team of the Year: Truro City

Rugby: Nic Sestaret (Plymouth Albion)

Disabled Sports Person: Jonathan Fox (Newquay Cormorants)

International Achievement: Sir Robin Knox-Johnson (Ipplepen)

Coach: Jon Hill/Chris Brown (Cornish All Blacks)

Motorsport: Chris Harris (Cornwall,) rides for Coventry Bees

Football: Steve Mildenhall (Yeovil Town)

Lifetime Achievement: Gary Stronach (Plymouth Raiders)

Unsung Hero: Tony White (Exeter Harriers)

Robinsons is for the first time the event sponsor of the 麻豆官网首页入口's Sports Personality of the Year.

They are also sponsoring the 麻豆官网首页入口 Sports Unsung Hero Award, now in its fifth year, which recognises and rewards outstanding contribution by individuals at the grassroots level of local sport. Bursaries of up to 拢2,500 are available to the winners of each regional award, to help them with their work in sport.
