The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú has announced the appointment of Tiffany Hall as its new Chief Information Officer.
She will be responsible for the strategic planning of the corporation's IT infrastructure, Information Security systems and support for Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú business systems and professional services teams which include HR, Marketing Communications & Audiences, Finance and Property.
In addition she will oversee the newly combined Development & Delivery team.
Tiffany Hall joined the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú from Shell in 1995 and has occupied a number of senior positions with both national and regional briefs.
She originally joined as an IT project manager but was soon appointed Head of Business Systems in News where her role included managing internal and external service-level agreements and the roll-out of an electronic news production system used by 14,000 staff across all Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú journalism output.
From 2000 to 2005 she was Head of Technology for News, and major project responsibilities during this period included the early development of Jupiter, the tapeless and desktop production system which transformed Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú TV news.
In 2006 Hall became the Technology Controller, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Nations & Regions. During this period she was responsible for setting the technology strategy and continued to strive for tapeless broadcast environments with her work to launch Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Northern Ireland's Digital NI project.
Tiffany Hall then went on to head up the newly created Development & Delivery in July 2009 and she will cover this role in addition to her new post until a replacement is found.
John Linwood, the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's Chief Technology Officer, said: "I'm delighted that Tiffany has accepted the post of CIO.
"She brings extensive Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú experience to the role in addition to valuable commercial insights from her time at Shell."
The appointment is part of John Linwood's restructure of the Broadcast and Enterprise Technology area within the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's Future Media & Technology Division.
Tiffany Hall's role will oversee the workings of a new open technology strategy recently instigated by Linwood, which allows Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú technology suppliers more insight into the details and specifications the corporation requires, and which intends to make tender applications simpler and more efficient.
She begins her new role on Monday 12 October 2009.
