It became the unofficial symbol of the City of Culture bid and it is back due to popular demand this summer.

When Coventry was shortlisted for , 麻豆官网首页入口 CWR encouraged people to take pride in their city in a very special way. Taking inspiration from 2Tone Music and the iconic London Taxi the radio station and its listeners created the ultimate mash up the ‘2Tone Taxi’.

2Tone Taxi Tour

The 2Tone Taxi is a theatre on wheels, offering unique interactive tours of the city, the route and content inspired by listeners’ suggestions.

The 2Tone Taxi tour is brought to life by a tour guide from Coventry’s on board the cab passengers are given an all senses tour of the city – seeing the sights through the new glass roof and hearing the sounds from an on board interactive sound system.

Those who take a ride will hear fascinating archive audio reliving Coventry’s incredible history and the voices of local residents telling powerful stories. The 2Tone Taxi Tour even includes some Coventry style skanking and raving!

The 2Tone Taxi Tours first hit the streets for a limited run last October but due to popular demand, we bought them back for summer 2018. This time the 2Tone Taxi is bigger and better than ever. The taxi is the new electric TX taxi from LEVC, being able to seat an extra passenger and even boasts a panoramic roof.

The external artwork of the taxi stays the same as last year, a colourful collage created by Coventry residents and local artist Ian Cook from – the 2Tone Taxi paint job shows dozens of “Coventry Specials”, the hidden gems and iconic locations Coventry people love and want to share with visitors.

“2Tone Taxi has been an incredible ride and we are delighted to be able to bring it back for the summer 2018.

"Our listeners suggested and painted the people, objects and places they truly love about this amazing city on the front, back and sides of a London cab built just down the road.

"There’s no way you can miss this taxi and I’m thrilled that it’ll back be taking hundreds of people on free tours around the city.”
