National Numeracy ambassadors Bobby Seagull, Rachel Riley and Martin Lewis saw a poster that said "Ticket prices increased by 10% in year 1 and 10% in year 2, so an overall increase of 20%". However our National Numeracy ambassadors say that it is 21% overall. Why are they correct?

You have multiply 1.10 x 1.10 = 1.21. This is a 21% increase as the increases are compounded not simple percentage increase.
