Today Puzzle #669

Puzzle No. 669 – Wednesday 5 February

Over 1100 schools and colleges entered the Senior Team Maths Challenge to crown the best team of Sixth Form maths students in the UK. Here is an example question these Sixth Formers were set. The integers 454 and 9889 are palindromic. That is, they read the same backwards and forwards. How many five-digit integers are not palindromic?

Today’s #PuzzleForToday has been set by the UK Mathematics Trust which yesterday staged the final of the UK's top school maths competition.
