Should the sailors who were held in Iran be allowed to sell their stories?

Families of personnel killed in Iraq have condemned the Ministry of Defence for allowing the captured sailors to benefit from doing what was essentially their job. Senior military figures have said it could set a dangerous precedent. But, in a free society, is there anything wrong in taking advantage of what was a frightening and deeply traumatic experience?
