Eachdraidh eilthireach nan G脿idheal. Eachdraidh nan G脿idheal ann an New Zealand - nam measg sgeulachd na chaidh a-null c貌mhla ris a' mhinistear ainmeil 脿 Assainte, Tormod MacLe貌id.
Highland emigration to New Zealand in the nineteenth century was driven by many different forces and desires. However, one theme seems to unite the varied strands of the story - the desire to create a new society, an ideal world in which the mistakes of the past would not be repeated.
Donald Morrison looks at the rebels, reformers and religious visionaries who led emigration to New Zealand and focuses on perhaps the most extraordinary migration of all - the forty-year global odyssey of Gaels from Assynt in the north west Highlands to Nova Scotia, Australia, and finally to Waipu in New Zealand's North Island. Led by a charismatic visionary, Rev Norman McLeod, their journey was a nineteenth century Exodus, an epic quest rooted in religious and social upheaval.
