Joe Crowley offers invaluable advice for viewers looking to rescue a house for themselves and finds out more about our housing stock, our heritage and why we should be both reinventing and preserving Britain's Empty Homes. The show features ambitious renovations and inspirational transformations, but also highlights the work carried out by the UK's Empty Property Officers, whose job it is to get unoccupied homes back into use.

In this episode, Joe meets Paul and Lynn Helyar, who have bought a derelict 16th-century, Grade 2 Listed cottage in Surrey. They're keen to share their exciting plans to turn the site into their new home and to get as much guidance as they can. To give Paul and Lynn tips and inspiration, Joe introduces them to a couple who have done an amazing job of converting their 600-year-old Grade 2 Listed farmhouse into a stunning five bedroom home.

Joe also finds out about the work of a housing charity in London which enlists corporate volunteers to renovate empty properties in to affordable family homes, and we follow empty property officer Sue Li on her mission to save abandoned houses in Derby.
