Ian and Marcie

Property series. Joe meets a couple who bought a six bedroom house, and learns how the renovation of a building will create new houses and provide training for local apprentices.

Joe Crowley offers invaluable advice for viewers looking to rescue a house for themselves and finds out more about our housing stock, our heritage and why we should be both reinventing and preserving Britain's Empty Homes. The show features ambitious renovations and inspirational transformations, but also highlights the work carried out by the UK's Empty Property Officers, whose job it is to get unoccupied homes back into use.

In this episode, Joe meets Ian and Marcie, who have just bought an empty six bedroom detached Victorian house in Muswell Hill. They're keen to share their plans to turn the property into a modern and extremely energy efficient family home - and to get as much guidance as they can. To give Ian and Marcie tips and inspiration, Joe introduces them to a couple who have converted a similar size and period house into a spectacularly energy efficient home.

Joe also learns how the renovation of an historic building in Great Yarmouth will not only create new houses but also provide training for local apprentices wishing to become Master Craftsmen, and we follow empty property officer Sue Li on her mission to save abandoned houses in Derby.
