Episode 8
Documentary series. Policing Britain's town and city centres is particularly demanding after dark. Humberside Police are now getting on top of the problem.
Policing Britain's town and city centres is particularly demanding after dark and especially at weekends, thanks to drunken violence that can make law-abiding citizens afraid to go out at night.
Neighbourhood Blues shows how Humberside Police are now getting on top of the problem in their area thanks to new powers they can use to ban people from certain districts.
In Bridlington, Yorkshire, neighbourhood police officers have their hands full dealing with a rowdy man who has been drinking and become involved in a disturbance with staff at a local nightclub. Rather than arresting the man, it is decided to move him away from the town centre with a banning order but, as is often the case, it's not that simple!
In Hull, neighbourhood police officers have a different kind of banning order to uphold. In the city's largest park, a load of fishing gear and alcohol has been found stashed in the bushes. The team suspects the owner is planning to return later that night for a spot of fishing, which is banned after dark, and decides to lie in wait for him to return.
