A small seaside town resort in county Antrim, home to the Golf Open Championship, is Portrush, where Maurice McAleese grew up. Anne Marie takes a trip down memory lane on her father’s old stomping ground. He has written a book about the glory days of the tournament back in 1951 – ‘Echoes of Open Glory’.

For the very first time this weekend there will be the Ireland Ice Swimming Championships on Camlough Lake. It will see world record holders from the ice swimming world compete against novices. And local man, Padraig Mallon, organiser and King of the pool will be taking part. He joins Anne Marie in studio to tell us more about the event.

The Port of Newry has had a Maritime Heritage night in the city earlier this week. Unveiled were four model steamers which are now permanently on display at Courtney’s Restaurant, at the Merchants Quay. James MacAreavey from the Maritme Association in Newry is in studio to tell us more.ÌýÌý

Fermanagh District Council and the Public Health Agency have combined two newly installed outdoor gyms and a walking programme in Derrygonnelly and Belcoo for six consecutive Sundays, commencing this Sunday. The notion is to combine fresh air and exercise. Anne Marie joined Chris Elliott, who is a fan of the concept, from the Fermanagh District Council to find out more about the initiative.ÌýÌý

Ballymoney Museum opens to the public next Tuesday, 10th February. They will have an exceptional display of artefacts that have been collected by the museum since 1860. You can see pieces such as giant Irish deer antlers, a nineteenth century clock face which towered over the Diamond, Bronze Age rings, axeheads, dirks, swords, spearhead and other rare and interesting items. Anne Marie is joined in studio by the museum Manager, Keith Beattie.
