THE PRESENCE OF ABSENCE
Derelict buildings, dusty lofts, coats in wardrobes and stunning Georgian staircases all explored, as we try to find an 'Irishmanlost' in and around Coleraine. Photographer, Pete Irvine captures the beauty in the old, the abandoned, and things from the past. He will be exhibiting some of his photos at the Riverside Theatre on the banks of the Bann. But to hear from him yourself, Ronan Lundy joined Pete at an abandoned Second World War airbase at Magilligan to get the real experience.
IRISH BRONZE AGE
Think back to the Bronze age in Ireland approximately c1300-1100BC… In County Fermanagh, 6 years ago, a man found what he thought was an old spring from a vintage car. However, it turned out to be a 3000 year old piece of Bronze Age jewellery that was popular in Ireland around that time. Also found near Downpatrick was a bronze heart-shaped tiny purse. TheyÌýhave both been declared national treasures at the Ulster Museum in Belfast which is celebrating Ireland’s Golden legacy this weekend. To hear the full story, Anne Marie talks live to Dr Greer Ramsey, Curator of Archaeology.
ANTRIM CASTLE GARDENS
Ìý
A historical gem in a magnificent setting, built in 1610, destroyed in 1922 and demolished in the 1970s but you will find nothing like these 400 year old gardens anywhere else in Northern Ireland. The gardens of the castle have just undergone the biggest restoration project to preserve this historical site. You can take a walk into the past as you stroll around the gardens and see the Large Parterre, Her Ladyship’s Pleasure Garden and Yew Tree Pond. You can also visit the Garden Heritage Exhibition to learn more about the history. Anne Marie met Heritage Officer, Philip McGuinness to get a private tour.
THE HEART OF THE GLENS

The Heart of The Glens Landscape Partnership Scheme has joined with the Woodland Trust, who are all set to plant a loch of new trees and give away 1000 to the community. Hoping to enhance the natural and built heritage of all areas. ÌýAnne Marie went along to meet Raemi Mathers and Director Patrick Cregg to learn more…ÌýÌý
