Knoydart
Dougie is in Knoydart to find out how the community manage living life off the mains electricity grid. Knoydart gets it electricity from a community Hydro scheme and scientists from Edinburgh University are helping them manage their usage through a unique traffic light system.
Farming Cash Crisis
Euan is near Elgin to meet the Beaton family. They run their own farm and also have a contracting business but their finances have been stretched to the limit聽 due to delays in the payment of their farm subsidies.
Rural Food Banks
Food banks are fairly common in urban areas but until recently there were very few in rural areas. Recent statistics show a dramatic rise in the need for food banks across Scotland鈥檚 rural council areas. Dougie visited a food bank in Aberdeenshire.
The Flying Scotsman
The most iconic engine from the age of steam was back on the tracks in Scotland last weekend. The flying Scotsman has just undergone a fifteen year programme of restoration. Euan joined fellow enthusiasts on the Flying Scotsman鈥檚 first trip back to Scotland.
Beatrix Potter
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of the famous children鈥檚 author, Beatrix Potter. She was born in London and spent most of her adult life in Cumbria but her formative years as a child were spent in Perthshire. Sarah went to Birnam to find out about the Potter legacy.
