Stories

TGI Monday

Connie Fisher joins the Church of England's first online pastor and a new internet chat show TGI Monday, where the spiritual world meets the digital age. She joins the pop-up panel and finds out what it means to spread the word online.

Mary Jones Bible

In the year 1800 Welsh Bibles were scare and expensive. A young country girl named Mary Jones set off on foot from her humble home after saving up for years. She walked 26 miles to Bala because she had heard that the Rev. Thomas Charles had Welsh Bibles to sell. Her quest so inspired Rev. Charles that it served as inspiration when he later went on to found the Bible Society - which had for over 200 years translated and made the Bible accessible to people all over the world.
Earlier this year Mary Jones' original Bible was back in Bala (it is usually looked after in the collections in Cambridge). Josie d'Arby joined the crowds gathered to see the Bible return to what was Thomas Charles' house and to meet those still inspired by her remarkable story.

Sister Catherine

Vicky Beeching, a self-confessed technology addict, finds the digital world in a place you might least expect.听 She visits the monastery of the award-winning Benedictine blogger whose blogs, or online diaries, have thousands of followers. Sister Catherine Wybourne has become known as the digital nun, and Brother Duncan, the monastery dog, also has an impressive online following!

Church on Wheels

Pope Francis has declared this year the Jubilee Year of Mercy - an opportunity for Roman Catholics to reflect on how they can show God's mercy to the world. In response Father Frankie Mulgrew and a team from Salford Diocese had the idea of taking the church 'on tour' aboard a double decker bus! Throughout Lent the "Mercy Bus" travelled around schools and shopping centres in the diocese, welcoming anyone who wished to step on board for confession, a blessing or perhaps just a chat with a priest. Radzi Chinyanganya went to find out more for Songs of Praise.
