30 years ago Veronica McCann from Newry did something to be proud of - she started the walking group in County Down called the Wee Binians. At the beginning there were only four of them but now they have grown to over 300 members. The annual walking festival runs next weekend from the 23rd – 25th September. Veronica speaks live to Anne Marie ahead of the festival.Ìý

In the heart of the glens sits a retreat Castle near Cushendall which is a complex of remains going back to the late 18th century, associated with an attempt to improve the agricultural landscape of the uplands of the Antrim Glens. A big dig began on the 12th September with all local primary schools taking part… Anne Marie caught up with Brian Sloan who is an archaeologist from Queens, who's leading this fascinating project.

A school based on the outskirts of Cookstown started life exclusively for young women and it was one of the only places in Ireland that were teaching women agricultural studies. Anne Marie went to meet Heather Baird who reminisces about her time as a student at the school.Ìý
