Emergencies 3

Lemurs Maurice and Angelo are rushed to the vets for life-saving surgery on some shocking battle wounds. The keepers are on standby as a seahorse dad gives birth.

It is another day of emergencies on Animal Park with Kate Humble and Ben Fogle. Two ring-tailed lemurs, Angelo and Maurice, have been injured in a brutal fight. It is a race for keeper Tina to urgently get them to the vets, and on arrival there is only one option - both lemurs must be sedated to be operated on. The veterinary surgical team are challenged more than ever to save their tiny - but vital - hands. If these are badly injured, it could have serious consequences for the lemurs’ ability to climb, eat and protect themselves in the future. But even if they can be repaired, will the rest of the lemurs accept them back into the group?

Up in the safari, Jean Johansson is about to face the ferocity of the park’s famous lions at dinner time. Accompanied by keeper Eloise in the park’s feed-up truck, Jean gets to see just how powerful these mighty animals are. But will she make it out in one piece, or are the wheels about to come off?

Meanwhile, down in the aquatic exhibit, keeper Georgia is preparing the delivery suite. There are seahorse babies on the way. But this will be a delivery with a difference, as in the seahorse world, it is the dad who gives birth! In the wild, seahorses can produce thousands of fry in one delivery, but with only a five per cent chance that the youngsters will make it to adulthood, the team will have their work cut out to ensure as many of them survive as possible.
