Football Shirts; Green Homes Grant; Pub Leases

How much is a new England football shirt worth? We explore the growing football shirt market. Also, we hear from listeners who have been refused Green Homes Grant vouchers.

The government's Green Homes Grant scheme allowed homeowners to apply for vouchers to cover some of the cost of home improvement works such as insulation or low carbon heating solutions. The scheme closed in March after only six months. The scheme received over 113,000 applications and 57% of those homeowners have now received vouchers. However over a third of applications were refused, or withdrawn because people changed their minds. We hear from listeners who feel their applications were refused unfairly after months of paperwork.

Supply of official England football shirts was limited in the run up to the Euros final. New stock sold out quickly, often in a matter of hours, and online listings showed shirts being resold at much higher prices. We look at the value of football shirts and how the market in the UK is growing.

Many pubs owned by breweries are leased to a tenant who acts as the pub landlord. We visit some pubs in Keswick in the Lake District, where landlords face losing their pubs. They say twenty year leases are not being renewed by the brewery, despite them spending thousands on pub renovations in the expectation of staying on. The Federation of Small Businesses is worried that breweries are increasingly taking the running of pubs inhouse.
