Film set in Ireland in 1845 which tells the story of Colmán Sharkey, a fisherman, father and husband, who gives shelter to a stranger on the orders of the priest. Patsy, an ex-soldier, is not long in the country when 'the plague' hits the crops. It leads to the Great Famine and millions of people have to leave or die.
