Gerald Jackson: In The Beginning
Gerald is proud to have passed the '45 years' threshold! He started his radio days at 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Leeds in 1968 and moved to the brand new 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Blackburn (now 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Lancashire) for its opening in 1971, so he was one of the very first voices to be heard on the station.
Over the next 20 years Gerald presented virtually every programme from 'Lancashire Today' at breakfast to 'Saturday Night Out' - a bizarre set of late night 'live' shows from obscure locations!
As Music Producer, he also recorded every type of local performer - from big bands to rock bands - Mike Harding to Jon Anderson.
In 1992 Gerald left the full time staff and continued to broadcast as a freelance while teaching Media at Blackburn College, working at Blackburn Rovers on match days (he still does) and reporting each week for 麻豆官网首页入口 Five Live.
Since 1998 he's worked with all our 40 麻豆官网首页入口 Local Stations, helping to develop their 'station sound'. He's been based back at Darwen Street for the past few years, and now also hosts 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Lancashire's weekly music nostalgia programme 'Unforgettable' every Sunday afternoon.
Gerald remains the only original member of 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Lancashire staff to still regularly broadcast on the station. He's 'mature' and happy with that!
