14/05/2010 - Friday's Show

Makeovers for the Mercaston & Markeaton brooks, plus memories from Kilburn in the 1950s.

Lynne Johnstone from Cycle Derby tells us about the runaway success of the recycled bike market, featured on the show earlier this week, with plans to now make it a regular event.

Sally's at Derby College's Broomfield Hall as a little bit of "Springwatch" technology comes to a nest box of bluetits.

Writer Alison Hill appeals for memories of Kilburn in the early 1950s, the setting for her first historical novel.

Carl Hawke from the National Trust tells us how over 拢100k is being spent improving the biodiversity of the Mercaston & Markeaton brooks either side of the historic Kedleston Estate.

And Wendy Jones tells us how her 5 year old son Connor, born with fluid on the brain (hydrocephalus) has been helped by a specialist centre in Wales. To fundraise and say thank you - the youngster from Foston is now doing a sponsored walk - a huge challenge for a young man who usually uses a wheelchair for longer distances.
