Grand Final: 1959

The fourth annual Eurovision Song Contest from Palais des Festivals et des Congres in Cannes, France.Dutch entry Teddy Scholten became the second winner from the Netherlands.

The fourth annual Eurovision Song Contest, broadcast from Palais des Festivals et des Congres in Cannes, France.The competition was won by Teddy Scholten from the Netherlands with song "Een beetje" making them the first country to win the contest twice. Lyricist Willy Van Hemert must have proved a lucky charm as he was also wrote the lyrics of their 1957 winning entry. The press hinted that France and Italy favoured the Netherlands to prevent each other from winning although this was never confirmed.This contest saw a rule change; no professional publishers or composers were allowed in the national juries. There were also some changes to the line-up; Luxembourg withdrew, The United Kingdom returned to the contest after missing the previous year's event and Monaco made their debut, although they finished in last place.
